The first of the three corridas monstruo (grand bullfights) of the Ciudad Real Fair was nothing short of triumphant. All four local matadors, along with the breeder from Los Chospes, left the ring on the shoulders of the crowd. It was an unforgettable afternoon, one that will be remembered for the local pride of four Manchegan toreros who all opened the Puerta Grande —a historic image for bullfighting in Ciudad Real.

Two for two in Ciudad Real. In the corrida monstruo of the leading figures, Enrique Ponce, El Juli, Miguel Ángel Perera and Alejandro Talavante were all carried out through the Puerta Grande, joined by the mayoral (chief herdsman) of the Torrealta ranch. It was a day of triumphs, highlighted by the indulto (pardon) of “Golfo”, following an extraordinary and complete performance by El Juli. The crowd of Ciudad Real gave the matadors a thunderous ovation as they left the arena.
